About this Training: The Wisconsin Statewide Parent-Educator Initiative (WSPEI) supports youth moving into adulthood and their families by fostering strong home-school partnerships and providing resources for improved family engagement. Key initiatives include parent and educator training, the Youth in Partnership with Parents for Empowerment (YiPPE) program to build self-determination, and networking opportunities like the Statewide Transition Table Talks for sharing best practices. WSPEI also offers information and referral to other agencies and connects families with statewide resources and collaborative partners to support positive outcomes for youth with disabilities in their transition to adulthood.

About The Series:  Transition Talks Tuesdays is a collaborative effort to provide students, families, educators, and community members with important information they need to know before a student turns 18 years old. We will cover a number of major areas that need to be considered. This fall we are inviting in some partners you might not be aware of and asking them “how do you support adolescents moving into adulthood and their families?”

Who should attend? Family members, self-advocates, educators, social workers, therapists, providers, community members – anyone who wants to understand some of pieces involved in becoming an adult if you have a disability or special health care need.

Presented by: The Wisconsin Youth Health Transition Initiative at the Waisman Center.
